Palmyra Township was founded in 1810
and is located in Southeastern Portage County in Northeastern Ohio
which is midway between Akron and Youngstown, with Cleveland and
Pittsburg, PA within an hour's drive. Palmyra Township's neighbors
are Atwater Township, Berlin Township, Charlestown Township, Edinburg
Township, Deerfield Township, Milton Township, Newton Township, and
Paris Township. Palmyra Township is formed from the Connecticut
Western Reserve. As of 2000, there were 2,785 people in the township.
Palmyra Township covers an area of 26 square miles. Palmyra
Township is surrounded by three recreational lakes: Lake Milton,
Berlin Reservoir, and West Branch Reservoir.
