Financial Assistance to repair or replace household sewage treatment systems in Portage County

Residents of Portage County with failing or malfunctioning household sewage treatment systems can now apply for help under several limited countywide programs.

The Portage County Combined General Health District has received $300,000 in funding from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency’s Water Pollution Loan Fund for the repair and/or replacement of household sewage treatment systems. The program is available to low to moderate income homeowners. These funds can be used:

  • To repair components such as a motor, a tank, an ultraviolet light, etc.
  • To replace the entire failing sewage treatment system.
  • To connect to the sanitary sewer.

The program is administered on a first-come, first-served based upon receipt of a completed application and supporting documentation. In addition, Portage County officials have two financial programs to assit homeowners with repair and replacment of household sewage systems.

  • County’s Commissions Home sewage Treatment System Repair or Replacement Programs.
  • Portage County Treasurer’s Home Improvement Program.
